Do have plans for your next ship modeling project? Building a ship is not a rocket science. It just takes patience, time, skills and knowledge, to build a ship of your choice. To model a ship, you will require assembling hundreds of small pieces by hand. The construction process takes some time to get completed; however the final result is amazing.
Before you get started, you will require searching several similar model boat kits, which will guide you throughout the process. Though you will get detailed instructions and plans with every ship kit you buy, but visualizing a pre-constructed ship kit, makes your process easy and understandable. Bulkheads are partitions that improve the overall strength of the ship’s structural design. You may soak wood planks in water for the hull. It will allow the planks to become more pliable and help you mold the wet planks around the bulkheads so that they easily get fitted into the hull’s structure.
The next step is to glue each shaped wooden plank to the bulkhead on the boat. You may then cut planks into pieces to fit into various gaps between the areas of the hull. After you have finished glueing and sticking, smooth the hull with sandpaper. Cut out gun ports on the side of the hull if required and paint the hull in accurate colors to give it a pleasing and vibrant look. The last step is to add the boat’s mast, rigging and sails. Tie them in small knots to give your boat a completed look.
